Factors Contributing to Prince Sattam Bin Abdelaziz University Students Reluctance to Participate in The Third higher Education Student Academic Conference from Their own Perspectives

Abstract

The aim of the current study was to identify factors contributing to prince Sattam Bin Abdelaziz university students reluctance to participate in the third higher education student academic conference from Their own Perspectives to achieve the aim of the study, The two researchers prepared a questionnaire which consisted of (19) items representing the students reasons of reluctance to participate in higher education student conference. Data were collected from a random sample consisting of (410) students from the faculties of Prince Sattam Bin Abdelaziz University at wadi aldwaser during the first term of the academic year 2014/2015. To analyze the data, the researchers used the mean scores, the standard deviation, and three way analysis of variance. The findings of the study revealed that there was a high degree of reluctance to participate in the higher education student conference from the participants’ perspectives, and there were no statistically significant differences at (0.05) level in reasons of the participants reluctance due to gender, faculty, or academic level. In light of the above findings, the researchers provided some recommendations including the need to develop students awareness of the importance of participation in the academic conference and its role in the building the students personality through meetings and symposia related to the conference.
