dc.description.abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate the degree of counseling skills among counselors in the Palestinian public schools, and determine the difference in this degree according to some quality characteristics from the perspective of counselors themselves. The study used a descriptive approach through the questionnaire designed for the purpose of the study. The significance of the validity and reliability is considered suitable for the purposes of the study. The sample of the study was (49) selected from school counselors working in the schools of the Directorate of Ramallah and Al-Bireh through a cluster sampling. The results showed that the estimates of counselors for their skills have a medium rate of (47.3%). The results showed that there are significant differences in counseling skills, depending on sex variable in favor of females, while there were no significant differences in the skills of counselors related to the educational attainment, or specialty, or years of experience. The results also pointed to the important need of providing specialized preparation programs for school counselors concerned with the type of specialization knowledge to guide, along with the appropriate skills, the performance of their functions and role. en_US
