Abstract:
This study aimed at detecting the level of metacomprehension and its relationship to reading comprehension among a sample of Al-Hussein Bin Talal University students and finding out whether this relationship varies according to student gender and academic level. The study sample consisted of (847) undergraduate students were chosen randomly from Al- Hussein Bin Talal University. To collect data, members of the sample completed a questionnaire of metacomprehension which was developed by Moore, Zabrucky & Commander, (1997) and reading comprehension was developed by Mussedien (2005). The results of study showed moderate average level of metacomprehension among the students. It also revealed a statistically significant correlation between students’ metacomprehension and their reading comprehension. Moreover, non- significant differences in the relationship were attributed to student gender and academic level.
