This study aimed to test the effectiveness of a developed unit in social studies based on the agricultural environment problems on the development of six grade students' concepts and environmental attitudes. To achieve this, the researcher determined the problems of the agricultural environment in Egypt, developed the agricultural environment unit in social studies curriculum of grade six, designed the teacher guide and students handbook, designed the environmental concepts test and attitudes towards agricultural environment scale. The study sample consisted of (64 students), divided into two groups: experimental group 32 students, and control group 32 students. Measurement tools were applied before teaching, then of teaching the developed unit to the experimental group, while teaching the traditional unit to the control group and re-applying the tools of measurement after the completion of the teaching for each of the two groups. The results showed that there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group and control group in the post test of the environmental concepts test and attitudes towards agricultural environment scale for the experimental group. This confirms the effectiveness of the developed unit on developing grade six students' concepts and environmental attitudes. |
