Motivations of and Obstacles of to the Development of Creative Thinking for Kindergarten-aged Children from their Parents’ Point of View

dc.description.abstract This study is aimed at identifying and monitoring the motivations and obstacles in the development of creative thinking skills, which relate to children of kindergarten age from their parents’ points of view in Kuwait. The study was conducted on a sample of 784 parents of children in both levels of kindergarten and tested both genders at government kindergartens in six different educational districts in Kuwait. This study was based on the “Motivations and Obstacles to the Development of Creative Thinking Skills among Kindergartners” using the questionnaire method. The main findings of the study consider the most significant motivating factors for developing creative thinking skills in kindergartners from the point of view of their parents. There are statistically significant differences at the level of significance of 0.001 among the average scores of the study sample on the assessment of the motivating factors in the development of creative thinking skills concerning our topic that are attributed to the variable of the education area in the following districts: Al-Asimah, Hawally, Farwaniya and Mubarak Al-Kabeer. There are statistically significant differences at the level of significance of 0.001 about the factors which foster the development of creative thinking skills related to our topic that are due to the guardian’s level of education, such as having a university degree and higher qualifications. There are statistically significant differences at the level of significance of 0.01 among the average scores of the study sample about their encouragement of the development of creative skills related to our topic that are due to the guardian’s level of education. This is due to the fact that the income of a parent with a university degree and higher qualifications would have a monthly income of from KD 2000 – 3000. Moreover, there are statistically significant differences at the significance level of 0.02 among the average scores of the study sample about the obstacles to the development of creative thinking skills related to our topic that are due to the monthly income variable of the guardian with a monthly income between KD1000 and KD2000. en_US
