Abstract:
This study aimed at searching the meaning of life and happiness as a predictor
of satisfaction with family life in a sample of married couples in Northern
Jordan. The sample of the study consisted of )918( husbands and wives. The
results showed a middle level of satisfaction for family life, meaning of life,
and happiness; differences between the genders on the satisfaction with family
life and the meaning of life scales for males, while there were no differences on
the happiness scale. The results also showed a statistically significant positive
relationship between satisfaction with family life and the meaning of life and
happiness, and that this relationship among females is stronger than that of males.
As for the variables that predicted satisfaction with family life in both genders, the
results indicated that the predicted variables in males were respectively: meaning
of life and happiness; while for females, they were respectively: searching for the
meaning of life, and happiness.
