Abstract:
The present study aimed to identify the relationship between personal
wisdom and psychological tolerance and to uncover the differences in the
variables of wisdom and tolerance resulting from the variables of gender and
specialization and the possibility of predicting the total degree of personal
wisdom through psychological tolerance and its dimensions among the
students of Al-Jouf University. The study sample consisted of (652) the
researcher used Ardelt (2003) for personal wisdom, and Heartland (2007) for
psychological tolerance.
The results of the study showed a statistically significant correlation
between the dimensions of the tolerance scale (the total score) and the
dimensions of the measure of wisdom (and its total score). the results also
indicated that there were statistically significant differences in all dimensions
of the measure of wisdom (cognitive, emotional, and contemplative) and the
total score of the wisdom scale according to gender variable for females.
Furthermore, the results found out that there were no statistically significant
differences in all dimensions of the wisdom scale and the total score according
to the specialization variable. The differences were statistically significant in
all dimensions of tolerance and the total degree of tolerance according to the
variable of specialization in favor of the scientific specialization. The study
concluded that the tolerance scale with all its dimensions can predict the
wisdom of the Al-Jouf University students.
