dc.description.abstract The current study aimed to identify meta-analysis indicators of the studies’ results to measure the effectiveness of virtual reality exposure therapy )VRET( in the treatment of specifc phobias. Through reference to (180) preliminary studies, where )20( studies were retained after the applying selection and exclusion criteria. The total number of the sample was )712( participants, Distributed to the VRET-based intervention group and comparison groups. The average age was )35.51( years, including )63.9٪( females for studies that identifed gender. The results showed that there was a signifcant high effect size of VRET-based therapeutic interventions in the treatment of specifc phobias according to the following arrangement (Arachnophobia, Dental Phobia, Agoraphobia, Aviophobia, then Acrophobia) both in the post treatment and follow-up period, compared to all comparison groups (waiting list, in vivo exposure and CBT(. The number of sessions had a role in the effectiveness of treatment, as programs that had more than )5( sessions had a greater impact size than programs whose sessions numbered less than )5( sessions. en_US
