Abstract:
The main aim of the current study was to identify the level of metacognitivethinking amongst College of Basic Education students in the state of Kuwait in the light of the variables of: gender, study year, and academic achievement level. The sample of the study consisted of )281( students distributed over the four years of the Bachelor program. A metacognitive thinking scale was developed to achieve the aim of the study. The results of the study revealed that the sample of the study showed ahigh level of metacognitive thinking at the total score level. The results also indicated that there were statistical significant differences in metacognitive thinking level due to the gender in the favor of females, and there werestatistical significant differences in metacognitive thinking level due to the academic achievement in the favor of the highachievers. The results also revealed that there were no statistical significant differences in metacognitive thinking level due to the year level. Finally, the researchers suggested some recommendations to improve the metacognitive level of students.
