dc.description.abstract |
The study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of a counseling program in improving psychological resilience to handle stress among female adolescents from broken families. The study sample consisted of 28 tenth graders who got the highest scores in the Stress Scale and the lowest scores in Psychological Resilience Scale. The participants were randomly divided into two groups: an experimental group and a control one, with 14 students in each. While the experimental group administered the counseling program, the control one did not receive any treatment. For the study hypotheses to be tested, means, standard deviations and ANCOVA were caluclated. Results showed that there were statistically significant differences between the scores of the experimental group participants and those of the control group in favor of the experimental group as their psychological resilience degree increased and the stress degree decreased which signified the effectiveness of the program administered after two months of follow-up. |
