Abstract:
The present study aimed to identify the future perceptions of female students at Irbid University College, and whether these perceptions vary according to the level of academic ambition and academic program type. In order to achieve the study objectives, the future perceptions scale for Ayyad )2011( was used after verifying its validity and reliability. In order to measure the academic ambition, the two researchers developed a special scale for that which was applied on a sample consisted of 410 female students who were selected randomly using the stratified method. To answer the study questions, the arithmetic means, standard deviations, t-test, one way-Anova, and Scheffe test for posteriori comparisons were used. The study results showed that the female students possess a medium degree of future perceptions on the scale as a whole, and on its two domains of optimism, and pessimism, while they have high future perceptions degree on the domains of future planning, realization and awareness, and self-confidence. Results also revealed that there were no statistically significant differences in the future perceptions due to the academic program type )intermediate diploma, and bachelor(, whereas the results revealed statistically significant differences in the future perceptions due to the academic ambition level on the scale degree as a whole and on all domains in favour of the female students who have a high academic ambition level.
