    Implementation of SlowDroid: Slow DoS Attack Performed by a Smartphone

    In terms of capabilities, today's smartphones are comparable to desktop computers. Last generation cellphones are indeed able to execute almost all the operation a common computer is able to accomplish. In this paper we focus on the use of mobile devices for perpetrating cyber attacks. With the purpose of proving the ability of executing attacks from a mobile environment, we introduce a mobile threat, SlowDroid, running on Android devices.     Special Issue on Mobile Applications

    This special issue of the International Journal of Computing and Digital Systems (IJCDS) focuses on mobile applications and publishes selected papers from the 2014 International Workshop on Mobile Applications (MobiApps 2014), 27-29 August 2014, Barcelona, Spain, which was held in conjunction with the 11th International Conference on Mobile Web Information Systems (MobiWIS 2014), and the 2nd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud (FiCloud 2014) [1-3]. The MobiApps workshop has attracted papers from authors from several countries across the world. Each paper was reviewed by the members of program committee. On average, each research paper has been assigned to three reviewers. Based on the reviews, eight papers were accepted for presentation at the workshop. The accepted papers cover a range of topics related to the theme of MobiApp. From these papers, five have been selected to be submitted as extended versions in the special issue on mobile applications in the journal, in addition to another two papers from outside the workshop, submitted through another call for paper to the special issue, and also selected from normal submission to the IJCDS journal.
