dc.description.abstract study area) fresh groundwater. It is known that volume of this water in Gaza Strip's aquifer is very limited. Israel has intensified this problem by direct and indirect depletion of fresh water, with which the Israeli settlements are supplied. These settlements control about 45% of the fresh groundwater stored in the Gaza Strip's aquifer. Israel has stopped Wadi Gaza flow, which used to partially replenish the Strip's aquifer. However, many wells were dug along the northern and eastern borders, and continually pump water. These wells have reduced the flow of groundwater, which recharge the aquifer. Israel also is responsible for the deterioration and degradation of the Gaza Strip's aquifer during the occupation period. This has led to the critical and acute shortage in fresh water. en_US
