dc.description.abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of a program based on the Choice Theory in increasing social responsibility and reducing behavioral problems of high basic stage students. The sample of the survey study consisted of 479 students of the grades (8th, 9th, & 10th) in Howwara Secondary School in Irbid. The sample of the experimental study consisted of (30) students randomly assigned to two groups: the experimental group consists of (15) students, and the control group consistihg of (15) students. The behavioral problems scale and the social responsibility scale were applied pre & post the application of the counseling program. The results of the survey study revealed lying behavior is the most common behavior problem.Statistical significant inverse correlation showed an inverse correlation statistically significant differences between behavioral problems and social responsibility relationship and between behavioral problems and social responsibility was found. There were statistical significant differences (α=0.05) between the means of the experimental and control groups on the behavioral problems scale due to the effect of the counseling program. There were statistical significant differences (α=0.05) between the experimental and control groups on the social responsibility scale due to the effect of the counseling program. en_US
