dc.description.abstract This study aimed at exploring teachers’ attitudes toward teaching English as a foreign language in the first four grades of the primary stage in Jordan. The participants of the study were 89 teachers of the English language )58 females and 31 males(. They were randomly chosen from the primary schools in Irbid Second Directorate of Education in the second semester of the academic year 2009/ 2010. To answer the questions of the study, the researcher designed a questionnaire. Proper statistical analysis were used to analyze the results. The results of the study indicated that teachers’ attitudes toward teaching English as a foreign language )TEFL( were positive with a mean of 3.85. It also showed that there were no statistically significant differences in the EFL teachers’ attitudes toward teaching English due to: educational level, gender, experience, and marital status. Based on the results, it is recommended for educators to conduct experimental studies to explore teachers’ attitudes toward TEFL that best support children’s positive attitudes toward English in teaching – learning process. en_US
