The Impact of Exposure to American Films in Satellite Channels on the Trends and Behavior of Saudi University Youth

dc.description.abstract This study aimed to identify the effect of exposure to American films in satellite channels on the attitudes and behaviors of Saudi university youth enrolled in the university through a field study conducted over a sample group of students enrolled in Umm Al- Qura University. The sample group of the study was composed of 380 students registered in the first semester of academic year 1438 H. The study is concerned with analysis of a sample group of US Hollywood movies(31). The study has concluded several findings. Following are the most significant: 1- Members of the sample group spend so much time in watching the US Hollywood movies on a daily basis, where the average time of watching for those who watch these movies has ranged between an hour and four hours (equivalent to 63 %). 2- A large percentage of members of the sample group (university students), 60 %, have admitted the influence of American movies over their trends, attitudes and behavior. 3- The most important effects created by US/American movies on the attitudes of university young people have revolved around admiration with the movies having scenes of pursuit, fighting and combat, in addition to admiration with performance of police and security apparatuses chasing criminals and those out-law persons and uncover different crimes. 4- The most important effects of US/American movies over the attitude of university students have revolved around learning English language. en_US
