dc.description.abstract This study proved that concept of poetry in Rasa’il ikhwan as – safa’ is based on three aspects : the description of poetry, the composition of poetry, and the functionality of poetry. Pertaining to the description of poetry, the Brethren’s discussion of it poetry. Moreover, they neglected the significance of the poetic emulation found within such description. Concerning the composition pf poetry, the Brethren focused on the importance of the rhythm. As a result, they joint the poetic art and music. Yet their point of view towards language took a physical shape not a metaphorical one. In regard to the poetic functionality, the Brethren realized the importance of engaging the receiver either positively or negatively. Also they showed the poetry’s moral virtues en_US
