Coping Styles with Psychological Stresses Among University Youth a Field Study on a Sample of Students in the Faculty Education and Faculty Sciences of Damascus University

dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study was to determine coping styles used by students. And whether there were any significant differences in the use of styles due to gender and specialization at Damascus University. The sample of study consisted of (212) students chosen randomly. To collect data of the study (CRI - Adult), which developed by Moos (1988) was used. The Findings of the study can be summarized as follows: 1-There were significant differences between males and females in the use of problem solving, and seeking alternative rewards. 2- There were significant differences between education and sciences students in the use of the use following styles: Positive Reappraisal, and seeking guidance and support, these differences were in favor of the education students. 3-There were significant differences between males of education and sciences males in the use of seeking alternative rewards style in favor of the education males. 4- There were significant differences between females of education and sciences females in the use of positive reappraisal style. These differences were in favor of the education females, but for the use of acceptance or resignation style these differences were in favor of the sciences females. There were some recommendations according to the study results which may develop students coping style with stresses situation. en_US
