This study aimed at exploring the contribution of thinking styles according to Sternberg's theory of mental self-government among Yarmouk University students. The sample of the study consisted of 358 bachelor students. Results showed significant effects of sex on thinking styles used by Yarmouk University students, and also on irrational beliefs among the study sample. Multiple Regression Analysis showed that there were some thinking styles like internal and anarchic that may lead persons to adapt irrational thinking, and other thinking styles, such as, hierarchical and oligarchic that may help persons to think rationally. Finally, results of the study showed that these "irrational" and "rational" thinking styles may differ according to gender. |
