Abstract:
The research aimed to identify the level of leadership behavior of the Omani faculty members at Sultan Qaboos University; and whether there were significant differences according to some variables: gender, specialization and university teaching experience. A scale consisted of (30) items on leadership covering five dimensions (participation in decision making, evaluation criteria, bases of job organizing, dealing with others, and dealing with different patterns of behavior). The scale was administered to (70) faculty members. The results showed that the level of leadership behavior was exceeded the assumed mean which was (75), it was (79.57), at the significant. The results showed that the mean was significantly higher than the assumed mean in three dimensions (bases of job organizing, dealing with others, and dealing with different patterns of behavior). In addition there was a significance difference to the experience variable in favour of subject with long experience. Several recommendations and further studies were presented.
