This study aims at investigating competencies that academic staff at Mu'tah University have in using e-learning and the factors attributed to such usage. A questionnaire was developed based on previous studies measuring five fields of competencies namely: 1- the competence of knowledge, 2- the competence of using instructional technology, 3- the competence of implementation, 4- the competence of teaching methods and finally 5- administrative competence. The questionnaire was distributed on the sample of the study which consisted of 200 academic staff at Mutah University from various academic ranks and specializations. To verify the results of the analysis the mean and standard deviation, t-test as well as one-way ANOVA were employed. The results showed that academic staff at Mu'tah University had medium and high level of competence in using e-leaning. Field of specialization was insignificant in the level of competence in using e-learning. The study also showed that the academic rank and source of degree as well as teaching experience did have an impact on the level of competence. The researcher recommends that training workshops be held to enhance the level of competence in using e-Learning coupled with support from the University administration. |
