The present study aimed to detect the impact of motor activities in the Portage program for early intervention in the development of self-concept in children with Down syndrome in kindergarten in the state of Kuwait. The study sample consisted of 20 children with Down syndrome who suffer from a lack of motor skills and self-concept. Therefore, they were divided into two equal groups, one experimental motor skill training using the Portage program for early intervention and the other controls remained in normal circumstances. The researchers applied pre and post test to measure the groups motor skills, and measure of self-concept, then the statistical processing was performed. The results showed the presence of statistically significant differences at the level of (0.01) among the averages of the two experimental and control groups in the application of the post measuring motor skills in favor of the experimental group. It also showed the presence of statistically significant differences at the level of (0.01) among the average scores of the two experimental and control group in the application of the post measuring self concept in favor of the experimental group. It also shows the presence of statistically significant correlation at the level of (0.01) between the scores of the experimental group in the application of post measuring motor skills and measuring self-concept. |
