Abstract:
This study aims at revealing the extent to which Tabuk University students possess the strategies of test wiseness in the light of students' specialization variables (scientific, literary), accumulative average (high, average, low) and academic level (first, second, third or fourth year). To achieve the aim of the study, the researcher has prepared a tool to measure test wiseness for universi¬ty students. The researcher has adapted Sarnaki classification (Samaki, 1979) for test wiseness strategies since it includes all possible test wiseness strate¬gies. The tool includes five measuring strategies: test usage, avoiding error, guessing, logical inference and the use of stimulants. The tool includes (42) items distributed among the test wiseness strategies. The reliability and valid¬ity of test factorial structure has been proved. The tool has been applied on the study sample which consists of (672) students from the University of Tabuk. This study shows that the logical inference is the most strategy that students possess. There are statistically significant differences in the arithmetic means in favor of scientific students. The arithmetic means of high scoring students in the possession of test wiseness is higher than that of low or average scor¬ing students, and the differences are statistically significant. The arithmetic means for the scores of test wiseness among the fourth and third year students are higher than the arithmetic means for first and second year students. The researcher has reached some recommendations.
