This study aimed at exploring the coping style of Bahraini female widows and their level of psychological hardiness. In addition, identifying the relationship between Bahraini female widows coping style and their hardness with respect to their widowhood years, education, income, work, sudden death and their number of children. The study consisted of (50) Bahraini widows, randomly selected. For data collection, the life events stress scale and Hardiness scale was administrated to the sample. Using appropriate statistical treatments involving t-test, Pearson correlation and ANOVAs. Finding indicated that positive coping style was the dominant style among Bahraini female widows. In addition, Hardiness level was significant. In which it indicated Bahraini widows are characterized with hardness. And there was a significant positive correlation between level of hardiness and positive coping, negative coping style among Bahraini widows. However, the relationship between the level of hardiness and positive coping style was the strongest in relations with the negative In case of medium and low income; the study revealed that female widows were more likely to use negative coping style. Also, there was a significant difference between secondary educated widows and primary and university ones on hardiness, in favor of secondary widows. In case of coping style, university female widows were more likely to use negative coping style. The study didn’t show any significant difference on coping style, hardness according to widows’ age, sudden death and number of widows’ children. |
