This study aimed to determine the degree of the use of information and communication technology by kindergarten teachers in Amman and the obstacles to that use. To answer the study, the researchers developed a questionnaire to explore these questions. The researchers verified both reliability and validity of the instrument. A random sample of this study included (43) kindergartens in Amman city, with (172) kindergarten teachers, during the second semester of the academic year (2007/2008). The study tool was distributed to all the teachers in those kindergartens and (157) completed questionnaires were returned to the researchers. The study findings indicated that there was a shortage in the availability of the hardware and the software in Amman kindergartens. Kindergarten teachers, in Amman, use of information and communication technology was weak. Results showed that there were physical, technical and educationally obstacles. Therefore, the researchers recommended that there was a necessity to provide the kindergartens with more hardware and software, in addition to a continuous training on new software and hardware. |
