Abstract:
This study aimed at evaluating the secondary stage-Islamic education teachers’ Performance in the light of the professional standards of teaching performance quality and the relationship between this performance and some other variables (years of experiences, numbers of sessions/ classes they taught, number of students they taught). Thus, a suggested training program was introduced to reinforce the strength aspects and treat the weak aspects of the teaching performance. A list of professional standards and an observation list were prepared. They were implemented on 30 teachers. The results showed that there was a variation between the levels of the Islamic education teachers on the professional standards. Their professional standards ranged between (0.48- 0.70) and the total performance was (0.58). This result indicated the weakness of this performance overall. Also, there were non- significant differences between the levels of the teacher’s performance in the standards aspects according to experience or the number of students in the field of monitoring the subject of specialization and teaching planning. There were no significant differences in all the other fields between the teachers who taught classes less than 30 students. Also, there were no significant differences in the field of professional standards between the teachers who taught 20 sessions and less. In light of the study results, the suggested training program was prepared and also introduced some suggestions and recommendations.
