Reliability and Validity of the Teenage Inventory of Social Skills on Jordanian Samples

Abstract

This study aims at examining the psychometric characteristics of a Jordanian version of the Teenage Inventory of Social Skills (TISS) developed by Inderbitzen & Foster in 1992 .The samples of this study consisted of (908) students at the university. The study showed high correlation between the Arabic version and the original version using two samples of bilingual individuals. The study displayed satisfactory coefficients of internal consistency and established convergent and divergent validity using three criterion scales including satisfaction with Lifes scale SWLS, Clinical Anger Scale CAS, Extraversion and Neuroticism scale E&N. Factor analysis conducted supported validity by displaying two factors. Validity was also supported by investigating the intercorrelations of the two subscales included in the instrument under consideration.
