The Effectiveness of Program Based on Collaborative Strategic Reading Approach for Developing Critical Reading Skills among Junior High School Students

dc.description.abstract The Study aimed at building a program based on collaborative strategic reading approach for developing critical reading skills among junior high school students. To achieve this objective, The Researcher prepared a list of critical reading skills for junior high school students and prepared a test to measure these skills. The test consisted 51 questions to measure 17 sub critical reading skills, then the researcher built the program based on collaborative strategic reading approach which consisted of three units. The Program was conducted to two groups in the seventh class junior high school students: control group (n=42) and experimental group (n= 43). The Study results revealed the effectiveness of the Program based on collaborative strategic reading approach for developing critical reading skills among junior high school students in general & the effectiveness it has in particular sub critical reading skills among seventh junior high school students. The study recommended the need for freedom from the traditional perception of reading as a negative receptive process. It is to the contrary, a mental construction based on the relationship between the writer and the reader interactive process. It also proves the need to include critical reading skills in the curriculum of our immortal language. A number of research projects that can be made for the development of a public-private reading skills and critical reading are proposed. en_US
