Abstract:
This study has been conducted with the objective of development of university sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Study has employed the descriptive methodology for data collection. To this end, a sample of 610 persons has been identified. The sample is stratified into 4 major categories as follows: - 5 from among sport experts in the University of Bahrain. - 13 from the academic staff members of the Department of Physical Education at the University’s Faculty of Education. - 37 of the University students who are active participants to the University teams of both sexes. - 555 of other active, sport - oriented University students. The study has actually used personal interviews and questionnaires for the purpose of collecting information from various participations in addition to depicting their opinion with regard to the status and requirement of university sports. To achieve the above goals, two questionnaires have been designed and conducted. However, a third questionnaire has been used for this study based upon findings of a previous study. However, scientific calculations have been made in order to assure the validity and reliability of the questionnaires. The study has concluded with the articulation of a proposed strategy for the development of University sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This strategy has comprised strategic objectives, an annual plan of action for the proposed programs of University sports activities, a necessary technical and administrative body for planning and execution, and strategic recommendations pertaining to the human resources in addition to activities of supervision, monitoring, and evaluation and assessment.
