The Effectiveness of Reciprocal Teaching Style on the Level of Shooting Skills Acquisition in Team Handball

dc.description.abstract This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of reciprocal teaching style on the level of shooting skills acquisition in team handball. The participants were 22 university students enrolled in a Handball Course and were randomly assigned by section to one of two treatment groups: a control (n=11) and an experimental (n=11). The control group was taught by a command style while the experimental group was taught by a reciprocal style. The data obtained were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and T-test. The major findings of this study were as follows: - Significant differences were found between pre- and post-test of the control group in the levels of shooting skills acquisition. The differences were in favor of post-test scores. - Significant differences were found between pre- and post-test of the experimental group in the levels of shooting skills acquisition. The differences were in favor of post-test scores. - Significant differences were found between the post-tests of the control and experimental groups in the levels of shooting skills acquisition. The differences were in favor the post-test of experimental group. - The reciprocal style of teaching was significantly effective in acquisition of shooting skills in team handball. In the light of the findings, it was concluded that a reciprocal style of teaching should be used more often by instructors. Additional research is needed in this area using other teaching styles. en_US
