dc.description.abstract This study aimed at identifying the evaluation competencies of commercial secondary school teachers as well as identifying a suggested training program to developing these competencies. To achieve these objectives, the researchers have prepared: A) A list of evaluation competencies that the commercial subject matter teachers should possess. The list, in its final form, has included three main competencies: the competency of planning for evaluation which was subdivided into three sub-competencies; the competency of organizing and assessing the evaluation instruments which was subdivided into six sub-competencies; and finally the competency of analyzing, interpreting and exploiting the evaluation results which was subdivided into three sub-competencies. B) An achievement test composed of 79 multiple choice questions. The test was designed to measure Bloom’s first three cognitive levels. 17 questions were allocated for the first competency, 36 for the second, and 26 for the third. The test was administered to 25 commercial subject matter teachers for assessing its reliability and was estimated to be 0.74 according to the split half method. C) A training program composed of the following: the main and sub-competencies, program objectives, content, training methods, training tools, tasks and the program time plan. As for the time plan, 67 hours was the time estimated for carrying out the program. 25 hours were given to the theoretical side and 42 hours for the practical one. The researchers, in their attempt to ensure the efficiency of the proposed training program, have recommended that it should be administered to commercial subject teachers in secondary schools. This should be carried out in cooperation with the authorized directorates in the Ministry of Education. en_US
