Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to recognize the effect of a training program in the development of achievement motivation and educational achievement of slow learner students, in resource rooms in basic government schools. Also, the study attempted to explore the effect of training in the development of achievement motivation and educational achievement based on gender, grade level, and their interaction. To achieve the aims of the study, a valid and a reliable scale (adjusted Herman’s scale to suite the study goals) was to measure achievement motivation for slow learner students. A sample of (40) male and female students was chosen from the schools which have resource rooms, in Karak governorate, those students registered the lowest grades on the adjusted scale, then they were divided into two equal groups: experimental and control. The experimental group participated in a training program consisting of (20) sessions, two sessions per week, for (30) minutes each session. The grades of the educational achievement of the two groups were taken by the end of the first- and second-semesters (pre- and post-test), during the academic year 2000/2001. The results showed that the training program was effective on the development of motivation and educational achievement for slow learner students. Finally there were non-significant differences in students’ achievement motivation and educational achievement due to gender, grade level, and the interaction between them.
