Abstract:
This study aimed at identifying the significance of the employability skills in preparing the students with intellectual abilities who were enrolled in special needs centers and institutions to be employed in Jordan with regard to their teachers’ perspectives. The sample of the study consisted of )123( teachers who worked in vocational rehabilitation programs in )53( public and private special needs centers. A tool of )33( items regarding essential employability skills that enable students with intellectual abilities to be employed, was developed to achieve the goals of the study. The tool was examined for reliablitity and validity. The study showed that teachers’ rating for the importance of the employability skills in employing intellectual disabled students was high with no difference relating to teachers’ gender. A statistically significant difference was found in rating the importance of employability skills due to the variable of academic qualifications, while the variable of experience was shown to have no statistical significance concerning the teachers’ rating of employability skills.
