Abstract:
This study aims at identifying the effectiveness of using Augmented
Reality Technology in teaching art education to develop the skills of visual
thinking among first year students in middle school in Riyadh City.
The study sample consisted of sixty female students at one of the public
schools in Riyadh during the second semester. The researcher followed the
quasi-experimental design in which the students have been divided into two
groups. Thirty students formed the experimental group and were instructed
using Augmented Reality Technology, whereas the other thirty students
formed the control group and were taught using the conventional/ traditional
method of teaching. A pre- and post- visual thinking test was conducted on the
study sample. The study results showed that there were statistically significant
differences (at indication level ≥ α 0.05) between students’ average grades in
both the experimental group and the control group on the visual thinking test
existed in favor of the experimental group.
