The Role of Information Technology Skills in Raising the Efficiency of Employees at Jouf University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Abstract

Employees form the core of human resources and they are considered indirect learning resources in the university's education technology system, so the current study aimed to invesetigate the role of information technology skills of employees of Jouf University, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in raising their efficiency in completing their job duties. The study considered the descriptive-analytical method, and a questionnaire was used as the study tool on a sample of 146 male and female employees, randomly selected, from different job ranks, and various university branches, colleges and deanships. The results of the study showed that there is a high level of information technology skills among the employees of Al-Jouf University, with a relative weight of )75.6%( in all its different sectors. The study also found statistically significant differences in the participants' responses due to the following variables: the number of training and development programs variable which was in favor of those who have completed 5 or more training courses, to the educational degree variable; in favor of those with postgraduate studies, and to the age variable; in favor of those whose ages ranged from 30 to less than 40 years. The study also found no statistically significant differences related to the gender variable, and that male and female employees were at a very close level of their possession of information technology skills.
