dc.description.abstract The purposes of this study were to investigate the prevalence of posttraumatic stress symptoms among students at Sultan Qaboos University, and whether there were any significant differences in the posttraumatic stress symptoms due to gender, college, student’s grade point average, and parents’ social status. The sample of study consisted of (512) students chosen randomly. The Posttraumatic stress questionnaire was developed and it consisted of (69) items. The findings of the study showed: 1- The level of the prevalence was mild. 2- There were significant differences between males and females in the area of the behavioral posttraumatic stress symptoms, these differences were in favor of the male students. 3- There were significant differences between students in humanistic and scientific colleges in favor of humanistic colleges. Also, students who were on and out of the academic probation in favor of students out of the academic probation. 4- There were significant differences between students whose parents were divorced and whose parents live together in favor of the students whose parents were divorced. The study offered some recommendations to improve students’ coping skills. en_US
