Abstract:
This study aimed to investigate the role of visual sports media in promoting
sportsmanship and reducing intolerance & violence in stadiums. It also aimed
to examine how it was affected by the variables of study sample. To achieve
the study objectives, the descriptive research approach was used. Data were
collected using an electronically questionnaire that distributed among (220(
participants. They were (116( players, (40( administrators, (30( coaches,
(24( rulers, and (10( media sportscasters. Data were electronically collected
using a questionnaire, which included two parts: role of visual sports media
in promoting sportsmanship, and role of visual sports media in reducing
intolerance & violence in stadiums.
The study results indicated that sport media was highly promoting
sportsmanship respected by the study sample and this could be positively
exploited in increasing the sport awareness. The study results also showed
that sport media could play crucial role in reducing intolerance & violence in
stadiums. The results also indicated that there were no signifcant differences
in the role of visual sports media in promoting sportsmanship due to class of
the participants. The results indicated that there were signifcant differences in
the role of visual sports media in reducing intolerance & violence in stadiums
due to class of the participants.
The study recommended that the sport media should improve the programs
provided by sport channels to promot sportsmanship and reduce intolerance &
violence in stadiums.
