Predictive Ability of Perceived Academic Parental Involvement in Academic Motivation among Secondary School Students

dc.description.abstract The current study aimed to identify the level of perceived academic parental involvement and academic motivation, and fnd out whether there are differences in the level of perceived academic parental involvement according to the gender and academic specialization variables. It also aimed to explor the prediction capability of the perceived academic parental involvement in academic motivation. To achieve the objective of the study, academic parental involvement scale, and academic motivation scale were used. The study sample consisted of )546( male and female secondary school students in the Zarqa frst directorate of education who were were chosen by an available method. The results of the study showed that the level of perceived academic parental involvement and academic motivation was high and that there were no statistically signifcant differences in the level of perceived academic parental involvement due to gender and academic specialization. They results also showed that there were statistically signifcant differences in the level of decision-making in the dimensions of perceived academic parental involvement due to gender, in favor of male, and also in the level of decisionmaking in the dimensions of perceived academic parental involvement due to academic specialization, in favor of scientifc specialization. Furthermore, the results also showed that perceived academic parental involvement explained )15.1%( of the total variance in the academic motivation. en_US
